The Sookie Stackhouse series is an amazing journey! Yes, I started reading these books only because I started watching True Blood on HBO. The best thing I like about the Sookie Stackhouse series is that the books are about her life on a day-to-day basis. I feel like I can connect with Sookie on a better level, than say Bella Swan from Twilight.

The author of the Sookie Stackhouse books is Charlaine Harris. She was born November 25, 1951 in Tunica, Mississippi.

The Sookie Stackhouse series takes place in the present, in upstate Louisiana (a few hours from New Orleans). When hurricane Katrina struck, Charlaine Harris incorporated this into the series. That’s why I like so much about this series is you feel you can connect because of current events that us humans are living through each year.

Another great aspect I like of this series is you never know what’s going to happen. There’s always some mysterious person trying to kill Sookie and you typically don’t discover these mysteries until the end. Sometimes I completely forget about an incident that happened in the beginning and after Charlaine Harris talks about it at the end of the book, I’m like “oh yeah! I was wondering what happened there.”

During the time of this posting the current book is #11, which is called Dead Reckoning, and it was released on May 3, 2011. I’m about 80% done on my Kindle.

If you’re looking for a series that’ll keep you on your toes and make you wonder what’s going to happen next, then Sookie is for you! Oh, and you may want to like reading vampire novels.
